Phillip Island 2004 - Race 2 - In the Rear View Mirror
It was a battle against the Torana’s and the Falcon's - horsepower vs corner speed, straight line power vs braking and handling. This footage is shot from the back of the Binding Army Reserve XD Falcon and shows the incredible braking and handling of the Alfa vs the straight line speed of the 400+HP Torana’s and Falcon's.
I particularly like going around them on the outside at Southern Loop!
I also think it is amazing that they could get 10-15 cars lengths ahead down the mainstraight but be back on their bumper by Southern Loop.
5th outright and only 7/10th off outright fastest lap.

Missing Qualifying meant off the back of the grid for a first lap charge through the field and the task of rounding up all those Torana’s. See the HDT car pass coming onto the straight just befor the chequered flag - that was under yellows and yes he paid a fine! An outright 4th place from the back of the grid and the Stewards award for the drive of the meeting

A cracked brake rotor after Friday practice meant shipping a new one from Melbourne, and starting from the back of the grid…it was a charge through the field and an epic battle with the ex Johnson XC Falcon Coupe. It had the horspower but on the tight QR Club circuit it left an opening...
